I heard a wonderful story about a person who has survived lung cancer three times. The last victory, because of Jesus, was five years ago. Well, how does this work out? Jesus is the great Physician.  Bottom line? We won't leave here until Jesus is ready.

We returned last evening from the SBC in Orlando. It was a great time of praise, fellowship and business. Probably the high point was the messengers voting to accept the Great Commission Resurgence committee's proposal to evaluate and go to greater lengths to reach others with the gospel of Jesus Christ. This will impact the NAMB and the IMB in a positive way. We will continue as a convention to support the efforts of the CP (Cooperative Program).

Exciting days are ahead for those who reach out to the lost and the saved.

Coach John Wooden PDF Print E-mail

Coach John Wooden died this past week at the age of 99. He lived a very long life that was always identified with Christian character. He was a successful basketball coach; and yet his desire to teach the young men Godly character goes beyond any earthly record book.

I read an article on Wooden on Foxnews.com website; and I have read half of a book by Wooden. One of his teachings was, "Be more concerned about your character than your reputation." Character is what you really are, whereas reputation is merely what others think you are.

From the Adrian Rogers devotional today,

Isaiah 29:15

Ezekiel 8:12

Ecclesiastes 12:14

His fathers advice:

"Be true to yourself, help others, make each day your masterpiece, make friendship a fine art, drink deeply from good books especially the Bible, build a shelter against a rainy day, give thanks for your blessings and pray for guidance every day."

His wife Nell slipped into heaven in 1985. They are now together in the presence and comfort of Jesus. Roman 10:13

Knowing God's Will PDF Print E-mail

Does God want us to know His will?  He wants us to know Him, and see Him: in scripture, in nature, and in the acts of fellow saints. The more time we spend in His Word, the more we will have an understanding of Him and His grace. That is what we're learning in our study of Colossians on Wednesday nights.

We prayed over our meal today in a restaurant and finished the prayer with the words, "In Jesus name." A man at the next table commented, "I'm always glad to hear someone pray in Jesus' name." Our act of thankfulness to God opened a door to fellowship with another believer during the rest of the meal.

Darla commented what a happy person.  It's OK to be happy. We have a ton of things to be happy about. Washington cannot be happy or make others happy until they turn to Christ.

There's a saying, "Don't Worry Be Happy".  Let's change that to...........Pray Often, Trust Jesus, and Be Happy.

Acts 22: 14
