(A) Let your children

- Hear you and see you have your own devotions

- Hear you petition God for their needs

- Hear you praise God for His blessings (in prayer and in daily conversations)

- Hear you ask God for His guidance in their lives

(B) Seek Godly Wisdom

- from older women who live their faith. Note: Older women make yourself available to the younger women.

- from books written by Godly men and women who have raised children to love the Lord

- from your own diligent study of the Bible

- from God’s direction, through the Holy Spirit, in your daily devotions of prayer

(C) Other methods of discerning God’s will for your family

-child rearing websites such as Focus on the Family, (see our website links)

- home Bible Studies with other couples and older parents

(D) Train up your child Requires Diligent Instruction

- Teach him how to worship God at Home and at Church

- Teach them to worship through the worship songs at church and home

- Teach them to find the Bible passages of the sermon

- Teach them to pray at church and home

-Teach them to love their family, church family, and neighbors

(E) Season is short

- Refrain from activities that can't be used to grow your child for God's kingdom

-Find ways to make every activity relate to God’s mercy and love for your child

Open Mic Night PDF Print E-mail

Last night was a share night at OBC. It was one of those unplanned blessings where the Holy Spirit of God takes over. May the prayer of our heart always be for Him to take over every day in every way. During share night the folks are invited to stand up and give their testimony. Every last child of God has a different or unique story as to how they came to Christ.

The themes I took aways from Open Mic Night are these:

Everybody needs Jesus.

The N.T. Church must be a Hospital for both saints and the lost.

Everyday is an opportunity to share and live Jesus.

If we mess up, run back to the Hospital called Church.

Don't ever miss an opportunity to build up a brother or sister in Christ.

In his book entitled, Getting to Know the Church Fathers,

Bryan M. Litfin lays out, in succinct fashion, the projection of a person's heart.

"There are only two kinds of people in the world: those who love themselves, and those who love God."

Have You Been to Colossae Lately? PDF Print E-mail

You’re Invited to a Study of Colossians

I encourage you to join us for the current

Bible Study on Wednesday nights at 6 pm.

We have just started looking into the

Letter to the Colossians.

Although the letter was written 2000 years ago, it is certainly up-to-date. By that I mean, it speaks to our day as well. This letter speaks of God’s involvement with creation, the move to unite world religions, and social and political issues. In all of this, we will discover God’s perspective.

Has a friend ever said to you,

“Can Christ really change lives?”

“Can He give you peace, joy, and happiness?”

“Does knowing him provide meaning, hope and a purpose for life?”

Colossians will answer those questions.

This letter will teach us how to improve our relationships with others:  in marriage, parenting, friendships, and work.

I invite you to join us.

Colossians 1:1-4:18
