Psalm 77:11-12 (NASB)

11  I shall remember the deeds of the LORD;

Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.

12  I will meditate on all Your work

And muse on Your deeds.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NASB)

18   in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Whether we look to the Psalmist of old or check in with Paul as he talks to the young church at Thessalonica, the theme is the same. We’re to count our blessings. Yes, living on the Emerald Coast within minutes of Destin Florida is great and fun. However, we must go beyond the pleasure of living in a resort area and count our blessings.

This idea came to me after leaving church tonight. We had an encouraging time as congregants shared praises where the Lord Jesus Christ is working in their lives. Prayer time is the foundation of the New Testament Church. Without the wonderful opportunity to converse with God the Father through Christ we simply are like the man who built his house on the sand. The storms of life, both internal and external, do come; and the house, or better said the shell, is gone.

Then, God gave us the opportunity to study the Word of God together. It is so cool to take a break from the hectic week and look at the Word; then discuss how it might apply to our lives.

Bro. Danny Adkison is teaching our Choir a cantata for Easter. I know it is still early; but, that’s a blessing that I’m going to count now.

Sometimes we can miss out on recognizing a blessing because our lives are so rushed.  So maybe we need to just stop and count………  pm
